Before I start, this is not a definite way to meld. There are many other options available, and you should consider what stat you need more when starting to meld. So far, it seems like the standard 600GP required for most gathering rotations in Heavensward is still a very viable amount of GP to have in Stormblood. Because of this, I tailored these melds to try and fully cap the gear stats, and if I couldn't, I sacrified GP melds for Gathering and Perception. I have also tried to create these melds so that no Grade VI materia is required for an overmeld.

Meld List

Tools

Tools are always a pain to meld. There's only ever one guaranteed slot, and the caps on the stats are so high that you are rarely able to fully cap them. Because of this, getting the yellow scrip primary tool is a viable option (GP is less important to gatherers than CP is to crafters currently) if you want a decent tool without the hassle of melding. For fishers, your secondary tool is unmeldable anyway, and only gives you a little extra GP. For Botanists and Miners, your secondary tool melds will depend on what you require. Do not worry about your GP for now: as I mentioned at the start, 600 is still the maximum needed for most gathering activities.

Secondary Tool Cap Gathering (No 6 Overmeld): Guerdon 6, Guerdon 5, Guerdon 5, Guile 5, Guile 5
Secondary Tool Perception (No 6 Overmeld): Guile 6, Guile 5, Guile 5, Guile 5, Guile 5
Secondary Tool Balanced (A 6 will need to be overmelded): Guile 6, Guile 6, Guerdon 5, Guerdon 5, Guerdon 5

For the "balanced" meld, check the prices of both Guile 6 and Guerdon 6. Whichever is cheaper, do as the two 6 melds. The balanced set will give you 30 Gathering and 30 Perception extra. The focused sets will give you 34 Gathering and 20 Perception or 55 Perception extra (secondary tool Gathering stat caps out at 34 Gathering). Even though the rest of the gear melds will not get you to the 1200 cap without the tool melded, it is still possible to HQ gather the folklore items with a HQ Jhammel Moussaka. HQ items, however, are not really required at this moment in time by crafters, so I would recommend leaving this unmelded for now.

Left Side

Hat: Guile 6, Guile 6, Guerdon 5, Grasp 5, Guile 2
Top: Guerdon 6, Guile 6, Guerdon 5, Guerdon 5, Guile 1
Gloves: Guerdon 6, Guile 5, Guerdon 4, Guerdon 3, Guile 1
Belt: Grasp 5, Guile 4, Guerdon 4, Guerdon 4, Guile 1
Pants: Guerdon 5, Grasp 5, Guerdon 4, Guerdon 1, Guile 1
Boots: Guile 5, Grasp 5, Guile 4, Guile 1, Guerdon 1

The hat I did not completely meld. It misses 2 Gathering. If you would rather the 2 Gathering over the 6 GP, replace the Grasp 5 with a Guerdon 1. Meld the Guerdon 1 after the Guile 2, however, as it will be more likely to go on.

The top misses only 1 GP. You will find the last Guerdon 5 will only give you 9/10 gathering, and the last Guile 1 will only give you 2/3 Perception. This is normal, so don't worry about wasting any stats.

The gloves, again, only miss 1 GP. Again, the Guile 1 will only give you 2/3 Perception. This is fine.

The belt is fully capped. No missing stats.

The pants are also fully capped. The two 1 materias on the end will not go on fully, but again, that's fine.

The boots, too, are fully capped. Again, the 1 materias at the end will not go on fully.

Right Side

Ears/Neck/Wrist: Grasp 6, Guile 4, Guile 4, Guerdon 4, Guerdon 4
Rings: Grasp 5, Guile 4, Guile 4, Guerdon 4, Guerdon 4

Regarding the jewels, the ring melds are actually perfectly possible for all jewel sets if you are short on gil and unable to afford Grasp 6. The rings are fuly capped, but the jewels with a Grasp 6 miss only 3 GP. Remember that GP is less important, so if you are unable to afford the GP 6 materias, then 5s will work fine. Both Gathering and Perception are capped in these melds. Remember, check the price of your materias when deciding your meld orders.

One Thing To Note

DoL 4 and 5 materias are extremely easy to get if your server's market prices are too high. The lower tiers (1 to 3) are also possible if you have Ixal quests unlocked and are at the rank where the quests give you Oaknots as a reward. You can also obtain both DoH and DoL 4 materias from the highest tier of Ixal quests as part of the reward, so if you have some crafters you would like to level, I recommend picking these up if you are short on gil. If you are just in need of 4s and 5s to start with, go back to red scrip gathering for the time being if you are a little short on gil. Not only will you get gil from the hand ins, but the scrips can be used to buy Grade 4 and 5 DoL materia. If you do not require any materia bought via red scrips, this is another way that you may be able to make a small amount of gil to help you meld.

Yellow Scrip Gear

You may do yellow scrip gathering to obtain this gear if you are unable to access HQ Serge and Gazelleskin gear, but the stats are extremely subpar to what you would get if you melded the HQ crafted gear. If you are unable to afford any HQ gear, unable to craft it for yourself, or do not know anyone who could craft it for you, this gear is still an option, but be warned that it is unmeldable so whatever stats it gives you, you are stuck with. There is no minimum gathering stat on the current set of folklore items, so this gear is a decent option if you do not have access to the crafted gear.

Happy melding! (And good luck on those overmelds)
